But these days, parents are doing MORE ACTIVITIES with their kids than ever before.

They are not JUST doing soccer and martial arts. They are also doing the school play, music lessons, dance, and a billion other things.
Which means we have to fight more than ever to stay on top of our game, so we stay solidified in their schedule.

One of the best ways to do that is to do the OPPOSITE of whatever everyone else is doing.
In the Age Of Automation, business owners are getting lazier than ever. They want everything to be automated.
AI this, AI that.

I understand. I use automations too, but there is one thing that should never be automated in a martial arts school.
Because it is one of the BIGGEST advantages you have over other sports and activities.

Most martial arts schools will never do this, which means you will stick out from the pack.
It is simple and old school, and it gives students that fuzzy warm feeling like hot chocolate on a cold winter day.

And you can implement it right away for less than the cost of a pack of gum.
Send out handwritten postcards.
It is stupid simple. Go to USPS and buy the pre-stamped postcards.
_
After classes each night, have your assistant instructors and you each pick out one person from your student list and write them a three or four sentence message about how proud you are. Mention something specific they are doing well.
Once an instructor writes a postcard for a specific student, cross their name off the list so you do not get repeats.
Just think about it. How often do your kids or adult students get handwritten postcards from a business? Probably never.

Not only does this make your students feel good, but it also helps your assistant instructors stay LASER focused on students in class, because they are thinking, โWho am I going to write a postcard toโ each day.
Simple, easy, repeatable. Do not do this more than two or three times a year so it still feels special.
