If you run a martial arts school and you’ve tried getting into local schools to be “Partners in Education,” you’ve heard the classics:

“We don’t allow outside businesses.”

Or 
​

“Send me an email.” (go waste your time drafting an email that i’ll never respond to)
​

Here’s why it keeps happening.

Think like them for a second. As a business owner, how often do randos pitch you payroll, cleaning, coaching, “SEO?”

Constantly.
​
​
​
 It’s annoying. 
​
​
​
So when you approach a principal or daycare director with a free program, their brain flashes the same warning we do when we hear, “3 FREE nights in Cancun!”

 …𝘾𝒐𝙤𝒍, 𝙖𝒎 𝑰 𝒂𝙗𝒐𝙪𝒕 𝒕𝙤 𝙗𝒆 𝒕𝙧𝒂𝙥𝒑𝙚𝒅 𝒊𝙣 𝙖 𝙬𝒊𝙣𝒅𝙤𝒘𝙡𝒆𝙨𝒔 𝒓𝙤𝒐𝙢 𝙛𝒐𝙧 𝙖𝒏 8-𝒉𝙤𝒖𝙧 𝙩𝒊𝙢𝒆𝙨𝒉𝙖𝒓𝙚 𝙥𝒊𝙩𝒄𝙝?

When people don’t know the catch, they assume the worst and reject you on autopilot.

The Fix: Tell them the catch, before they ask.
​

Here’s the exact sentence I use:

​
“We could charge thousands for these programs, but we do them for free for two reasons: (1) it genuinely helps our local kids and gets our name out there, and (2) a few families usually love it and ask to train at our school afterward, so it helps us too.”
​
​
​
That’s it. One sentence. You’ve:
​
​
​
Removed the mystery (and lowered their guard).
​
​
Positioned the win-win without sounding salesy.
​
​
Made “free” feel credible, not sketchy.
​
​
​
Simple, easy, effective. 
​
​
So if you’re tired of being stuck in administrative Judo, and you can’t get out… tell them what the “catch is”

You frame it as a win-win, and the clarity beats being clever.
