𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝘂𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀

If you’ve ever run a school program, you know this problem:

Public schools can often have 500+ students… and you’re standing there wondering, “How the heck am I going to pull this off without passing out before my own classes tonight?”

Here’s the truth: most instructors get this wrong. They split kids into groups of 25. On paper, that seems manageable. In reality? That’s 20 classes. Add your dojo classes at night, and you’re a zombie by Thursday.

There’s a smarter way.

👉 Cap each group at 100 students. Anything more than that becomes chaos. Anything less, and you’ll be teaching until the janitor kicks you out.

👉 Schedule 3 groups one day, 2 the next. Five back-to-back classes is draining. Three is tough but doable, and you’ll still have the energy to crush your evening classes.

These aren’t hard set rules, do what makes you comfortable, without burning yourself out.

But this structure keeps the kids engaged, the school happy, and YOU sane.
​
​
Here’s the hard truth to swallow- teaching great classes isn’t enough. 
​
​
I learned the hard way. For years, I poured my energy into anti-bullying talks and confidence workshops. The kids loved it, the teachers loved it… and I got almost zero enrollments.
​
​
Why? Because goodwill doesn’t pay your rent.
​

Fun classes doesn’t equal news students (I wish it did). 
​
​
The bridge between a packed school assembly and a packed dojo is in the prep AND the follow up.

At the end of any “school talk” we ALWAYS hand out an invitation to a free Beginner Martial Arts Workshop in our martial arts school. 
​
​
Notice I didn’t say we hand out flyers. 
​
​
Why? Because school staff is often trained to not allow businesses to hand out any flyers.
​
​
An invitation, though? It doesn’t raise any red flags. Same piece of paper, but with the right framing, it passes the sniff test.
​
​
And once those kids walk into your dojo, you will need a system to enroll many of them at once. 
​
​
This was my biggest breakthrough after years of running “feel good” programs that didn’t move the needle.
​
​
School programs that don’t convert into new students quickly will leave you frustrated and feel like “it’s not worth it.” 
​
​
But school programs that lead to 5-15 new students who show up ready to enroll within 1 week? This will have you feeling energized and that everything is right in this world. You’ll be jumping at the bit to start your next program. 
​
​
Because burnout only happens when you do the work without the results you want. When you put it all together though, and it works like magic, it’s euphoric. ​ 
​
​
That’s how you run a school program without burning out AND without wasting the opportunity.
