How to recruit new instructors while you are on the toilet

You probably already trained your next great instructor.
They just donโt train anymore.
Maybe they stopped when high school got busy.
Maybe they left for college.
Maybe life just got in the way.
But if you go back far enough in your phone, I bet youโll find a handful of students who were total rockstars on the mat. The kind of students who made your day just by showing up to class. Who had the energy, personality, and potential to teach one day, maybe they even earned their black belt as a kid or an adult
And hereโs how to get them back ๐
1. Scroll through your phone
Start digging through old photos, graduation pics, testing days, demo team events, etc.
Find that one pic that makes you say, โDamn, I remember when this student was on fire.โ
2. Send them the pic with this message:
โHey [Name], look what I just found! Throwback from [year]. I was wonderingโฆ do you know anyone who might be interested in teaching martial arts?โ
Why this works:

If theyโre interested, theyโll raise their hand.

If theyโre not, you didnโt put them in an awkward position by directly asking them to work for you.
No pressure. No weirdness. Just a trip down memory laneโฆ with a subtle ask. And by starting the convo, you may even get them to come back to training. Itโs a double whammy with ZERO risk and all reward, AND you can do this from the comfort of your toilet.
