If You Hate Selling, Youโll Love These 5 Magic Questions

If you're tired of hearing:
โ "Wow, that's more expensive than I thought"
โ "We'll start later"
โ "I need to talk to my husband/wife and get back to you"
I'm going to give you the 5 Magic Questions you can ask to AVOID all these objections, like a verbal ninja. ๐ฅท
But hereโs the truth:
Most objections donโt come from price.
Most objections donโt even come from time.
They come from uncertainty.
If you want to make enrollments easy, and make objections almost irrelevant, you need to ask the right questions before you ever present your program and tuition.

Here are the 5 Magic Questions I love to use:
1. "Whatโs the #1 reason you wanted Johnny to do martial arts?"
Get them to say it out loud. The moment they verbalize their desire, they start selling themselves.
(Yes, they'll sometimes just parrot what they saw on your ad, so make sure you dig into the real #1 reason. This helps you anchor the most important emotional driver.)
2. "Why is that important to you?"
Go a layer deeper.
Help them realize the emotional driver (confidence, discipline, respect, focus, etc.).
Usually, you wonโt get the real answer right away. That's why itโs crucial to "dig in" using clarifying questions like:

"What makes you say that?"

"Can you tell me more about that?"
It might feel repetitive to you, but to the parent, it shows that you actually care. (And you should.)
3. "Why did you want him to start now and not later?"
This question anchors urgency without you ever needing to say โAct Now!โ
Itโs their idea, not yours.
It also helps cut off the "I need to talk to my spouse" objection before it even starts.
4. "Why do you feel like heโs a good fit for our program?"
Shift the conversation from โShould we do this?โ to โHereโs why we HAVE to do this.โ
Let THEM convince YOU why they love your school.
5. "Is there anything else youโd like to know about the program?"
Now youโre simply removing small roadblocks instead of fighting uphill battles.
(Remember: Martial arts isn't like buying soccer cleats. Most parents have never signed up for a program like yours, they don't even know what questions to ask! Give them the space to bring up anything lingering.)
When you use these 5 questions, you flip the dynamic:
Instead of you convincing them, they convince themselves.
And that, my friend, is the real magic.
Internal motivation > External pressure.
Does this solve everything and guarantee a 100% close rate?
Of course not. But it makes everything WAY easier.
Pro Tip:
If thereโs a major holiday or seasonal issue coming up (like summer vacations), add a bonus question upfront:
"Is there anything coming up this summer that would make attending classes difficult?"
That way you pre-frame and handle vacation objections before they pop up.
