Stop Just “Correcting” Students, Try This Instead..
If you read last week’s newsletter, we talked about PCP (praise challenge praise).
It’s like the Golden Rule of instructor feedback, Praise the effort, give a correction, praise again.
But today I want to introduce you to a new version I like even more.
If Praise-Correct-Praise is a flip phone, Praise-Challenge-Praise is the iPhone 15 Pro
Here’s how it works 👇
Instead of always looking for things to fix (especially tough with advanced students),
train your instructors to walk around and look for things to CHALLENGE.
It’s a complete mindset shift.
Now, instead of just trying to correct a mistake, your team starts asking:
✅ How can I push this student?
✅ Can I challenge their speed?
✅ Can I challenge their power?
✅ Can I make this combo cleaner or sharper?
Even if a student is doing something right, they can still be challenged.
(And challenged students make faster progress, which means better retention.)
Here’s what it sounds like in class:
“I love how sharp your chamber is on that side kick. Let’s see if you can keep that same chamber and strike with your heel with even more power. If you can do that, you will be even better at the next tournament”
Boom.
Praise. Challenge. Praise.
Simple.
Easy.
Crazy effective.
Teach this to your team this week.
And watch your classes instantly level up.
