The "F Word" Thatโs Killing Your School Talks (Stop Saying It!)
โThey donโt allow any outside businesses.โ
โThey wonโt let us hand out marketing materials.โ
I hear these objections all the time from martial arts school owners.
Theyโre stuck between a rock and a hard place.
They want to do school talksโฆ
They know organic marketing is becoming even more important in a digital worldโฆ
But they donโt know how to turn those school talks into paying students quickly.
There are many reasons why school talks fail to generate students.
But thereโs one โF Wordโ that stands out above all else.
One word that, if you use it, will dig you into a hole you canโt climb out of.
One word that virtually guarantees you wonโt enroll many students.
So what is this forbidden โF Wordโ?
๐จ Flyer. ๐จ
Itโs the equivalent of saying โVoldemortโ in Harry Potter.
Donโt even whisper it.
Hereโs why:
School administrators are trained on that word.
They have strict policies against โoutside businesses solicitingโ or โhanding out flyers.โ
So if you walk in saying, โCan I hand out some flyers?โ โฆ you just lost before you even started.
The One Word That Gets You In The Door
When weโre setting up school talks, we NEVER say โflyers.โ
Instead, we train our clients to use a completely different wordโone that doesnโt raise red flags with school administrators.
Itโs the same word my client Harvey from Karate USA used last week when he enrolled 13 new students from a school talk.
Itโs the same word I gave Cristian, who used it to set up multiple beginner workshopsโgenerating 25 new students in February without spending a dime on ads.
By now, youโre probably thinking:
โAlright Matt, I get itโฆ just tell me the DAMN word!!!โ
Alright, fine. The word isโฆ
โInvitation.โ
How a Simple Language Shift Changes Everything
For over a decade, I fine-tuned the Triangle Codex system, testing the right words to use so schools actually say YES.
And this was the breakthrough:
At the end of a meeting with a school administrator, after finalizing the details, Iโd casually drop this sentence:
๐ โOh, and for the students who love it, weโll give them an invitation to come try a free beginner workshop.โ
๐ก Key #1: Keep it casual, like an afterthought.
๐ก Key #2: Avoid raising red flags that trigger automatic rejections.
An "invitation" feels different than a "flyer."
It feels exclusive.
It feels personal.
And most importantly, it doesnโt get shut down immediately.
This One Change Can Skyrocket Your School Talks
Now, does this work 100% of the time? Nope.
But does it dramatically increase your success rate? Absolutely.
This is just one of the many strategies I teach my clients to hack their way into schools and set up high-converting school talks that turn into real paying students within a week.
If you want to skip the years of trial and error, and get straight to what actually works, letโs talk.
๐ฒ Schedule a 10-min Discovery Call with me HERE and letโs see if the Triangle Codex is the right strategy for your school.
As always, 3-min read, all strategy, no fluff.
