Want to get more high-quality, reliable adult instructors?

Even if you NEVER plan on leaving the mat, building up your team should always be a priority.
โฆand not just with teenagers, but with adults who bring maturity and real-world experience to the table.
Why? Because if tomorrow youโre abducted by a reincarnation of Bruce Lee to join a space army protecting Earth from killer cyber cats, whoโs teaching your students?
How will your familyโs income be protected?
Sure, the school might coast for a couple weeks or even months, but eventually, itโll fall apart unless you have a well-trained staff: including reliable adults.
Hereโs the problem: Adults in your program likely already have a careerโฆ They're paying tuition somehow! Itโs easy to dismiss the idea of them ever wanting to become instructors.
We focus on why they wouldnโt do it, instead of creating a scenario where they would.
Solution: ASK.
I know this sounds comically simple, but Iโve had so many conversations with school owners who say, โOh, heโs a doctor, he doesnโt have time.โ Thatโs just an assumption!
We tell ourselves no before they do.
Not every adult instructor will become full-time, but imagine having just three adults you could count on to assist a couple nights a week. How much better would that make your school? How much less stressed would you feel?
Hereโs the thing: Just because someone has a full-time (even high-paying) job doesnโt mean they love it. Your students are passionate about martial arts, and you never know who might be looking for something more fulfilling to replace, or supplement, their career.

How did these people join our team? Simple: We askedโand gave them the opportunity.
Hereโs how you can do it:
โHey, youโre doing so great on the mat, and itโs clear how much you love it. One of the best ways to improve your training is to teach others. Have you ever thought about that? I think youโd be amazing at it.โ
Then, let them talk.
They might not quit their 9-5 tomorrow, but they might assist in ONE classโand that could snowball into something bigger.
Donโt count people out.
If you assume youโre going to strike out and never swing the bat, youโll never hit a home run. (Did I just use a baseball analogy in a martial arts newsletter? Yikes.)
Hereโs why this works:
Iโm guessing you didnโt make martial arts your career to become a billionaire. You wanted to help others and find fulfillment.
Other people want that too!
Doctors, lawyers, therapists, and other professionalsโgive them the opportunity to find fulfillment, even if itโs part-time or just assisting a single class.
I challenge you: Pick three adults and invite them to assist in a class. See what happens.
As always, no fluff, all actionable strategy in under 3 minutes.
